I was born in Montgomery, Alabama.  My mother and father were both born and raised in Montgomery.  They grew up during the time of bus boycotts, and integration of public schools.  My parents met right after high school, and they were married in 1976.  They both come from very large families.  Our families are very close, as family means everything to both of them.  My father was in the military, so we moved a few times across the United States.  He served for twenty-five years and retired when I was in high school.  My mother is a schoolteacher, and always knew from the age of five, that she wanted to be a schoolteacher.  I am the older of two children; I have a younger brother.  I was very spoiled by my parents.  I know God blessed me with the best parents in the world!  I met my husband in high school, and even though there was no initial attraction while we were in school, we saw each other one day, and just started talking.  We would talk all hours of the night.  I would have to get up in an hour to go to the University or work, but I didn’t care.  I just knew that we could talk about anything and everything forever.
